Security safes are tested to European Standards (EN 1143-1) by some of the leading testing houses in Europe. These standards are based on attack testing which simulate modern burglary techniques.
Sold Secure is a certification scheme, based on attack testing, set up by the Police with the help of the Home Office. It is administered by the Master Locksmiths Association, which works closely with Police and insurance companies.
Sold Secure have three security grades/categories.
BRONZE - Products
Offering theft resistance against the basic tool list (aimed at preventing opportunist crime)
SILVER - Products
Offering theft resistance against enhanced tool list (aimed at preventing more determined attacks)
GOLD - Products - Highest Approval
Offering theft resistance against the full tool list (aimed at preventing dedicated attacks)
A Sold Secure approved product has successfully withstood twelve different attack methods of five minutes each before being awarded its certificate. The average thief will give up after two and a half minutes because of risk of discovery
The Thatcham Institute for Vehicle Security is recognised by insurers as the UK’s leading tester of vehicle security products.
Products with the Thatcham label have been demonstrated to comply with The British Insurance Industry’s Criteria for Vehicle Security - the toughest set of standards ever to be applied to motorcycle locks and alarm/immobilisers.
As a result, many insurance companies offer significant discounts to those who use these Thatcham Approved Products.
Fire Safes are tested by the Swedish National Testing & Research Institute. They have one of the most modern and advanced test laboratories in Europe and are widely recognised as being leaders in their field. The tests carried out here are according to the Nordtest NT FIRE 017 & the European standard EN 1047-1.
Raid-control is a new crime prevention initiative that aims to raise security standards in retail premises, thereby reducing the potential for commercial robbery and create a safer working environment. It is a partnership initiative between the Police, the trade association for the security industry (British Security Industry Association) and representatives from the insurance and retail sectors, and other trade associations. Safe Cash Ratings
Cash ratings are only a guide and assume correct installation. Insurance companies' ratings vary. Higher or lower figures might be applied. If it is important, check first with your insurance company.
Safe Installation
Many safes are best installed by a professional, but some safes are suitable for DIY fixing. We recommend that you always consult us at Henry Gates about fixing your safes.
Safe Warranty
Burton Safes offer a 2 year warranty in respect of materials and workmanship. Please note that Keyguard Security products carry a 1 year warranty.

2. Postage and Packaging
We can deliver your purchase worldwide. Postage, Packing & VAT charges are all included in our on line prices. How ever the online price is for delivery within the UK. If you would like a world delivery please contact us and we will arrange a delivery price for your order.
3. Delivery
Orders are usually despatched within 4-6 working days. At peak times, this could be slightly longer – please check our website for up-to-date information. In some instances a signature may be required.
If an item is not in stock, we will advise as to when we expect delivery and send it to you as soon as we can. If there is a further delay we will notify you in writing and ask you whether you would still like the item(s) to be sent to you. We will only charge you postage once per order, even if we send you more than one delivery. Goods offered subject to being unsold. In the event of non-availability of goods, we reserve the right to rescind the contract.
4. Privacy Policy
Henry Gates and Son Ltd treats personal information with the utmost respect. The data entered on your order form may be stored and used for customer care, and to process orders. From time to time we may contact you with information regarding new products, special offers, events etc. Please let us know if you do not wish to receive such mailings from us by emailing us at enquiries@henrygates.co.uk. The contract between You, the buyer, and Us, Henry Gates and Son Ltd, will be governed by the laws of England and any dispute between You and Us will be resolved by the English courts.
5. Returns Policy
We hope you are delighted with your purchase, however, if for any reason you are not entirely satisfied, we will be happy to give you an exchange or refund. Please return your purchase within 14 days of delivery in its original condition, in its box, together with proof of purchase. The postage and packaging charge is not refundable. The parcel is your responsibility until it reaches us, so we strongly recommend that you send it by recorded post in a padded envelope, box or similar. We are not responsible for any consequential loss or expenses, howsoever caused.
6. General Information
Our prices are valid until April 2008. Every care has been taken to describe and portray items accurately using current technology. Images shown on our website may have slight colour differences to the actual goods you receive due to the display discrepancies inherent in different computer monitors.
7. Errors and Omissions
We all make mistakes! We believe that our prices are correct but if we have made an error we reserve the right to refuse a sale. If part of these terms is found to be unlawful, it shall not affect the validity of the remainder. Errors and omissions excepted.
